More To Be Treated As Over 1,200 Get Free Eye Health Service In Yala

No fewer than 1,200 people have received free eye health services in Yala local government area of northern Cross River state in the ongoing Ikaba Ngaji foundation free medical outreach.

Organizers say the program which began in August 21 at Oba in Okpoma area of Yala and scheduled to last 12 days, sees a minimum of 250 people tended to by professionals free of charge.

“I am not close to the records now but we number 250 people everyday and if by the end of the day, we see cases that need our attention, we take care of them and it is free of charge,” said Tony Idagu, an organizer.

The program is being executed in conjunction with the Tulsi Chanrai Foundation, a health specialist foundation from India which has been operating in the state.

Mr. Idagu said the team is now at the St. Joseph’s Primary School in Okuku, Yala and over 2,000 people have been registered to access the free eye health services rendered.

“We are now at St. Joseph’s primary school in Okuku and we came here yesterday (Friday),” he said.

The foundation which is headed by the State Security Adviser to Governor Ben Ayade, Mr. Jude Ngaji also said it will sponsor some with serious eye problems to Calabar “at the end of the day,” for free surgery while other items are being distributed on the scene.

“We are also distributing glasses, eye drops and several other things free of charge and depending on what is needed,” Mr. Idagu said.
