The Jehovah Witness (JW) in Cross River State says all is set for its first annual convention in Pidgin language.
The convention is expected to be of benefit to “multitudes in states such as Ebonyi, Benue and Akwa Ibom who speak Nigerian Pidgin as their first or second language,” a statement signed by Nate Simeon who is in charge of media services in the Ikom 2 region read.
“The first series of the conventions will hold at Ikom, during the first and second weekends of this October beginning on Friday’s,” the statement said.
Witnesses have begun a campaign in various regions of the state to invite the general public to the convention which has; “Don’t Give Up” or “Make You No Tire” in the Nigerian Pidgin parlance as the theme, the statement read.
The program which consists of segments that include “brief talks, interviews, a 3-part practical film for everyday living as well as numerous short videos aims at providing “comfort and hope to the disappointed,” the JW said.
“It is designed to give attendees a
reliable reason not to give up as they are constantly faced with life challenges, such as the economy, corruption, child safety, injustice, death of loved ones,” as, “Attendees will be shown practical Bible guidelines that will help them enjoy a happy life now while they look forward to a sure bright future,” the JW said.
