The Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Calabar Area Office has held its 2017 Chief’s Executive Interactive meeting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Speaking at the event, the Area Manager of the Calabar office Mrs. Anozie Ifeyinwa Nneka stated that “the choice of the theme; Maximizing Workplace Negativity For Maximum Productivity” is very key especially at this trying period when the nation is grappling to get out of economic recession.”
Mrs. Ifeayinwa, who was representing the Director General ITF, Sir. Joseph Nri further added that “ITF owes a duty to ensure that the nation gets the requisite, competent and committed workforce to drive the economy.”
She further added that the event was a forum to “interface with all strata of our stakeholders, as we are conscious of our collective dream of a better tomorrow.”
Presenting a paper on the theme of the event, the Area Manager, ITF Yenegoa Area office, Mr. Kolawole Samuel stated that Chief Executives should try all within their means to curb negativity in their place of work, as it has a way of bringing down productivity.
He advised the captains of industry present to create a working environment where all voices can be heard and all staff; whether junior level or managerial can have a sense of belonging.
On his part, the Head; Revenue, Inspectorate and Compliance ITF, Mr. Edwin John, said companies and organizations should voluntarily contribute to the ITF because it has the capacity of creating jobs for millions of youths and therefore helping in securing lives and properties.
Participants at the event expressed their recognition of the role ITF plays in the creation of jobs and poverty alleviation but charged the organization to do more, especially in its handling of the SIWES program.
