Barely a week after Akamkpa and Biase local government areas endorsed Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River to seek reelection, three more local government areas in the southern senatorial district; Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South local government areas have thrown their weight behind Mr. Ayade.
The endorsement came at a town hall meeting held at the Akpabuyo local government area headquarters where the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Joseph Bassey moved the motion to endorse Mr. Ayade to vie for a second term.
The event was chaired by Mr. Patrick Okokon who argued that the state was moving in the right direction under Mr. Ayade.
The State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Inok Edim said that having toured the state, where he saw the several projects embarked upon by the current administration, it was only proper that the southern senatorial district votes Mr. Ayade for a second term in office to ensure the completion of these projects.
They were several goodwill messages form traditional rulers, House of Assembly members and Commissioners from the three local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu commended the turnout and announced the support of NGN50,000 to 64 final year students which totaled NGN2.2 million.
A constituent who bagged first class in law from the University of Ibadan will be given NGN100,000 Mr. Esu said.
Earlier, he had commissioned a 32 units open market stall at the Akpabuyo market built by the local government administration led by the Head of Local government administration.
