UNICAL Slams Another Suspension On Joseph Odok

By Aplefe Ojong

The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy of the institution, Mr. Joseph Odok less than three months after he was recalled from a previous suspension.

This was contained in a letter sighted by CrossRiverWatch and addressed to Mr. Odok which accused Mr. Odok of putting up a “plethora” of posts on social media where he made “wild” and “unsubstantiated” claims against the Vice Chancellor, Professor Zana Akpagu.

The letter, signed by the Registrar of the Institution with reference number, UC\R\10 said the posts were capable of “inciting the public against the Institution and its leadership.”

The letter, dated January 19, 2018 and titled “SUSPENSION FROM DUTY” also listed some of the posts by Mr. Odok.

Odok was suspended in May 2017 following his investigation by the Police for alleged unlawful possession of firearms and was later recalled after intervention by several sources CrossRiverWatch learnt.
