The Friends of Community Advocacy Program (FOCAP) has lampooned the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) for failing to live up to its responsibilities of distributing power and maintaining the distribution network.
The Community Liaison Director of the organization, Mr. Okon Eyibio stated this while speaking as a guest on topical issues program; ‘The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo’ which airs live every Sunday evening, 6-7pm on Hit95.9 FM Calabar where he blamed both the management of the PHEDC and the Cross River State government for failing to come to a consensus that will benefit the residents.
He also said that the distribution lines were faulty and wondered why the PHEDC and the Cross River State government were foot dragging on replacing them.
Also, Eyibio who was discussing efficiency in the delivery of public utility services posited that the worst challenge was the attitude of the distribution company as they keep making the consumers buy transformers when the old ones go bad as well as charge them excessively.
Mr. Eyibio alleged that businesses are leaving the state in droves due to the state of power supply in the State.
