Cross River born table tennis champion and Africa’s fourth seed, Offiong Edem on Friday progressed to the Women Singles semifinals of the 2018 ITTF Africa Top 16 Cup holding in Nairobi, Kenya.
Offiong scaled through despite upsets on the opening day when she lost to unseeded Algerian, Lynda Logrhaibi who was seeded fifth, jointly, in the competition.
She had earlier beaten eleven seeded Tunisian, Haj Salaj Abir.
However, she progressed to the quarterfinals where she faced a top opponent; joint fifth seeded Tunisia’s Safa Saidani.
She will face Egypt’s Meshref Dina who is seeded number 1 in the competition by 10:00AM local time on Day 3 (today) in what will be her toughest game so far.
