Some Prison Wardens and about 10 inmates have feared dead after Prisoner Transport Van (PTV) had a head on collision with another car.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning at about 10am along Edibe – Edibe by Abua Street Calabar South, Cross River State when the PTV from Afokang prison Calabar South, which was headed for court but ran into a Toyota Corolla.
According to an eye witness who spoke on anonymity, “They were on speed and a man drove and hit their van into the gutter. Although no one was injured, the Prison Wardens were so angry that the beat up that man and started threatening others.”
Another eye witness revealed that, “They shot about four times in the air and caused traffic gridlock by stopping vehicles from passing.”
As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to get situation update from the Prisons Public Relations Officer proved abortive.
