Drug Abusers Must Admit They’re Addicted To Get Help – President African Council On Narcotics (AUDIO)

By Margaret John

The President of the African Council on Narcotics (ACON), Mr. Rekpene Bassey has called for the creation of a special department separate from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency that will focus on drugs reduction while the NDLEA focuses on enforcement.

Mr. Rekpene who was speaking on “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” which airs on Sunday 6-7pm said the NDLEA as presently constituted, is overstretched and needs assistance.

The former Cross River State Security Adviser added that there is the need for drug abuse victims to seek help from relevant institutions like hospitals and the NDLEA, which provides counseling services for them to get assistance, but first the victims must accept that something is wrong with them.

He concluded by reiterating his organization’s commitment to the fight against drug abuse.
