The federal government will on Friday commission the Erosion and Control Works at the University of Calabar (UNICAL) a letter from the federal ministry of science and technology says.

The letter read in part: “I write to inform you of the official commissioning of the University of Calabar Erosion and Flood Control Works.”
The project is a federal government initiative which was approved last year by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
In April last year, officials from the Ecological Funds Office (EFO) were in the University to officially handover the project site to the contractor, Messrs Telesis Limited and Messrs Nok Associate, project consultant.
In another development, a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Dr. Eyo Mensah has been suspended indefinitely by the University for alleged certificate forgery.
The suspension letter with reference number; UC/R.45A and dated 15th May, 2018 was signed by the Registrar of the institution, Moses Abang.
The letter titled: “Indefinite Suspension From The Services Of The University Of Calabar,” read: “I regret to inform you that the Vice Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the laws and statutes of the University has directed your immediate and indefinite suspension from the services of the University of Calabar.
“The directive is based on a careful consideration of recent development in a case of certificate forgery implicating you and for which reason the University has been requested to release you for trial in the Court of Law.
