JUST IN: 42 To Be Awarded First Class As UNICAL Convocates 11,807 Graduands On Saturday

The 31st convocation ceremony of the University of Calabar will be a harvest of first class as 42 first degree graduands will be awarded the prestigious honors on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

The Vice Chancellor of the Varsity, Professor Zana Akpagu disclosed this in a press briefing which marks the commencement of convocation activities Wednesday in Calabar.

Professor Akpagu said that a total of 11, 807 graduands will be awarded first degrees, post graduate degrees and diplomas.

He broke down the figure and revealed that 7,957 graduated with their first degrees; 2,226 graduands emerged from the post graduate school while 1,624 will be awarded diplomas.

Among the first degree graduands, 42 students bagged First Class Division; 1,940 with Second Class Upper Division; 4,860 with Second Class Lower Division; 1,005 with Third Class while 110 students came out with a Pass degree.

He went further to reveal that the 2,226 graduands from the post graduate school consists of 282 Doctorate Degrees graduands; 1,480 Masters Degree graduands and 464 Post Graduate Diploma graduands.

CrossRiverWatch had earlier reported that the University will also award honorary degrees to the Board Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba; former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu; the Emir of Borgu Kingdom in Niger State, Barrister Muhammad Sani Haliru Kitoro IV as well as Late Chief Michael Archibong who would be honored posthumously.
