Be Proactive, Cross River Information Commissioner, Rosemary Archibong Task NUJ

The newly elected executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Ministry of Information and Orientation Chapel, have been urged to maintain ethical standards and be proactive in discharging their duties.

The charge was given by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dr. Rosemary Archibong when she played host to them in her office, Tuesday afternoon.

She urged them to, “Be inquisitive and search for information, go out of your comfort zone, you’ve got to be information curious and strive for excellence.

“Think Cross River first before any other, take meaningful risks, maintain ethical standards. Congratulations but above all, be good Ambassadors, you must make yourself useful to your bosses so that you don’t get sidelined.” She said.

On challenge of promotion in the Ministry as decried by her guests, she said, “Promotion challenges will be handled shortly, but you must be equal to the task not mere wishing.”

She implored them to be “creative and dynamic in their search for and dissemination of information.”

Earlier, the new Chairman of the NUJ Ministry of Information and Orientation Chapel, Mr. Iloke Egbe, tabled their challenges for the Commissioner with major emphasis their promotion and lauded the Commissioner for hosting them.

According to him, “We have lots of challenges but most pressing is that of promotion in the Ministry, please help us look into it.”

He pledged that during his tenure as Chairman, the chapel will work hand-in-hand with all and sundry to meet all expectations.

The newly elected executive members to pilot the affairs of the union for the next three years are; Iloke Ebge (Chairman), Ndem Affiong (Vice Chairman), Okoi Esther (Secretary), Kingsley Agim (Assistant Secretary), Veronica Ogar (Treasurer), Blessing Enagu (Financial Secretary), and Margaret Elom (Auditor).
