The National Coordinator of Women in Survey (WIS) Nigeria, Dr. Gertrude Njar has called on the Cross River State Government to update the auto-photo map, (a comprehensive map of an area acquired through aerial survey) of the State saying the current one is obsolete.
Dr. Njar decried the inefficient condition of the auto-photo mapping system in Cross River State, in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch TV in her Calabar office.
Gertrude who is the immediate past Chairman of the State branch of Nigeria Institute of Surveyors (NIS), added that “The map has not been updated since its set up in the year 2000 and does not capture recent roads and structures that came after that year.”
Dr. Njar concluded by calling on the State Government to act promptly in reviewing and updating the auto photo map by seeking the expertise of willing and able surveyors in the State instead of cutting corners.
Women in Survey were established in 2005 to propagate the gospel of women in surveying.
