The Cross River State Security Adviser, Mr. Jude Ngaji has denied reports that he has resigned his appointment to contest for the position of the Senator representing the Cross River northern senatorial district.
Mr. Ngaji disclosed this in message to CrossRiverWatch on Thursday afternoon.
Following media reports that he had resigned, this newspaper had contacted Mr. Ngaji to confirm the information and he replied in his message: “Not resigned yet.”
Mr. Ngaji’s intention to contest for the position is said to have caused upset in the camp of incumbent, Senator Rose Oko who is also vying for a second term.
The position is said to be zoned to the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency by his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ngaji is the son to Mr. Greg Ngaji who served in the 5th Senate from 2007 to 2011. He rose from being the State Organising Secretary of the PDP to being the deputy chief of staff to former Governor Liyel Imoke and later Chief of staff when his predecessor, Mr. Alex Egbonna resigned to contest for one of the national assembly’s position.
He was later appointed State Security Adviser by his father’s successor in the senate and incumbent Cross River Governor, Senator Ben Ayade on July 1, 2015.
