The member representing Boki 2 in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hillary Bisong has denied claims that he is nursing an ambition to be speaker of the 9th assembly should he win a second term.
A statement issued by Mr. Bisong denounced claims by one Eliman Eliman, who hails from the Boki 1 constituency that he was preferred amongst others for the number three position in the state.
“I want to state clearly that I am contesting for the seat of Boki II state constituency and not for the seat of Speaker. Power comes from God and not man,” read the statement signed by Mr. Bisong.
He continued: “Eliman Eliman has been one of my critics; getting to read this post from him seems surprising. I wish to re-affirm my position that I am vying for a second term in office and not vying for Speaker.”
Mr. Eliman had in a post on social media claimed a statement from Mr. Bisong showed that political elites will likely zone the position of the Speaker to Boki local government area for political convenience.
