By Jonathan Ugbal

A combined team of personnel from the Nigerian Police Force and Nigerian Army have shot dead no fewer than five daredevil robbers who invaded the UDDYKing fuelling station at Atu street in Calabar South local government area this afternoon.

The robbers had red and black ribbons on their waist and had arrived in an unmarked greyish green Toyota Camry allegedly stolen from a clergyman and proceeded to rob the fuelling station.

CrossRiverWatch gathered that the police was alerted and a team attached to the Department of Homeland Security, a security outfit created by the State government with personnel drawn from military and paramilitary forces as well as the police moved in immediately and began a gun fight with the robbers.

However, the robbers are said to have been wearing charms and the bullets were not penetrating.

Another team comprising of Army personnel later arrived and the robbers were gunned down less than a kilometer away at Goldie street by Target, near another branch of the UDDYKing fuelling station.

The bodies have since been evacuated to the Atakpa divisional headquarters of the police.

Efforts to confirm details from the State Security Adviser (South), Mr. Ani Esin proved abortive as calls to his line rang bit were not taken.

Calls to the line of the Police public relations officer did not connect either.
