Community Technical College, Calabar Win Maiden Edition Of OSAC Football Competition

Community Technical College, Ikot Effangha, Calabar has won the 2018 edition of the Old School Association Challenge (OSAC) football  competition held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The competition took place Saturday, 22 December, 2018 at the Saint Patrick’s Technical College, Ikot Ansa, Calabar.

Eight teams comprising of Hope Waddell Training Institute, Unical International Secondary School, Lord’s Academy, Community Technical College, Regina Pacis Modern Secondary School, Duke Town Secondary School and Team NYSC participated in the twelve match competition with Community Technical College edging Regina Pacis Modern Secondary School on penalties to clinch the title.

Speaking from the sidelines of the event, Coach of Community Technical College, Mr. Victor Onyekwelu expresed excitement for seeing his team to victory.

“I am so excited today, first of all I want to give glory to God for making this possible. Am so excited. It’s meant for the old boys and to create awareness to other people who does not have old boys association in their schools. Uniting the old boys through sports is the best idea for us. Am so excited to see the old boy’s today after a long time. I want to say kudos to the organisers for putting up such a beautiful event.”

The captain of CTC, ThankGod Ini thanked the organisers for the wonderful idea to unite us the old boys through sports. “Firstly I want to thank the organisers because it’s not easy. I never believed it would be something big like this. I give God the glory because we joined the competition late. I did not even believe that there would be a refreshment after the match. So I am happy and I would leave to tell my friends who are not part of it to join the competition next year.”

And the Chairman, local organising committee (LOC) of the competition, Mr. Caeser Abam expressed delight and thanked God for making the event a huge success. He said there is no better way of uniting the world other than through sports and friendship.

“The main idea here is to have fun through reunion and one of the ways we have decided to do this is through sports, that is football in particular. It feels great to have your old time friends back for good. We are committed to sustaining this course. And we hope that next year’s edition would be bigger and better.”

The winners would be presented with a cash price of Hundred Thousand Naira (100,000) at a dinner slated for Monday, December 24, while the second runner up, Regina Pacis Modern Secondary School are expected to walk home with a booby price.

The event is powered by Premium Sports Entertainment, Old Students Association, Fan Milk, Fad FM Calabar, Airtel Nigeria, Cross River State Government, Cross River State Broadcasting Corporation (CRBC), and Cross River State Tourism Bureau.
