Following the conclusion of the 2019 general election across the country, some Cross Riverians have shared their expectations in this vox pop with our correspondents.
According to Nelson Ndoma, “I’m expecting the best candidate will win and the most popular candidate. For the polling unit I used my eyes to see, people went out and voted peacefully, at the end of the day if those results; let INEC be transparent, they should stop rigging. Let the people decide who they want, they have seen the current government and have seen their position”.
On her part Doris, “My own expectation is that I don’t want the sitting government to continue in the next four years, let someone else come in, it doesn’t matter who the person is. Let’s have the change because if you check the past four years, there is no one that will come out to say he has achieved anything great. Even when they were saying corruption, we were still having life easy but now they say they are fighting corruption and it is bad. As you see me, no be leg I carry dey waka? My motor I don park am for house”.
Supporting Doris, Usoro Daniel said: “I myself am supporting PDP because I have witnessed the government of Buhari and have seen that it is very different from the former government. We have seen what Buhari has done, lets see what Atiku will do and am expecting Atiku to win”.
Oscar Ohakwe advised INEC to be transparent, “Let what happened on Saturday actually come out as the citizens of Nigeria had already decided. It will be unfortunate and posteriors if the actual results don’t reflect what citizens want right now in Nigeria”.
Optimistic, Mr. Francis Joseph said: “I still see President Buhari winning this election not because anybody will rig, I feel the people still want him because he has some policies and I think I’m in line with the polices and I like it that way”.
Differing from Francis, Iso Bassey maintained: “I feel good because I know what is going on. I’m sure that Atiku is going to win by the grace of God, he will come and be our leader in Jesus name, Amen”.
Comfort from 8 miles said, “The election was so wonderful and it was conducted well in my own unit. There was no problem”.
Also Mr. Daniel in Calabar appealed that “My expectation is that let INEC count and deliver the votes accordingly”.
While Mr. Daniel from Bakassi held that, “The election was free and fair in my polling unit. With what I saw on Saturday, PDP will win the presidential election. It will be better for INEC to announce the result accordingly”.
Ene from Akpabuyo, “There were a lot of voided votes, I want to tell INEC to watch out for those votes. I’m expecting something great, that’s the minds of the people”.
