The New Generation Party Candidate for Ikom/Boki Federal constituency, Mr. Asu Yakubu Shendam has expressed optimism that the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Gubernatorial elections, Senator Ben Ayade will win his re-election bid.
Shendam who said he believes Mr. Ayade deserves a second term, stated this shortly after casting his vote at the Polling Unit 005 of Njua/Kebet in Boki local government area where he also said he believes Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari will prefer Mr. Ayade to be reelected.
“President Buhari and Ayade may not belong to same party, but I can bet my liver, Mr .President prefers to see Governor Ayade elected back into office to continue with his good works”, Shendam said.
Mr. Ayade polled 616 votes against 55 recorded for the All Progressives Congress.
And, Shendam who said the PDP’s victory in his polling unit was an affirmation of his believe, also stressed that there was need for the northern senatorial district to complete it’s two terms since the south and central had done so.
“From what we are doing here today, you can see that everyone is happy to have voted for Ayade. He deserves another amazing and sparkling second term in office,” he said.
When asked of his next step on his own House of Representatives election outcome, Shendam said “we are already at the election Tribunal and Appeal Court”.
