Following the untimely departure of Joseph Agbor, a civil engineering student, who was knocked down by his fellow student early last week, students of engineering, took a procession to mourn their beloved colleagues.
The sorrowful match which took place within the school premises, Calabar Campus; saw the students in black and black attires chanting mournful songs.
In a latest development, it was a sad Monday as the students mourn not only Agbor Joseph but also, Wofai Emmanue l Eteng a 500 level student, who is reported to have died while on Industrial Training (IT) few months ago after battling with illness.
Expressing sadness, Ugal Ransom Ashiwel, the class rep of Joseph, blamed the school management on lack of bumps and poor medical facilities adding that if the basic medical tools were in place, the 400 level student life would have been saved.
“It saddens my heart to see that when I was in year one, I lost a course mate in the struggle, year two same, year three same and year four the same thing happen. Now if I have to say, I will like to send this message to the school authority because, one , if you check here , there are no speed bumps in this school, that is to say , a vehicle can speed up at any limit the driver wishes to, it is very very bad, it is not suppose to be so. Now when that incident happened, they rushed my course mate to the school clinic, but whereas, when they got to the school clinic, there were no equipment. That was why he died.
“I believe that if there were equipments in the school clinic it wouldn’t have being so, so please am begging through this medium to school authority to let them know that, the school clinic there is nothing there. I strongly believe that, even panadol; you cannot find panadol in that school clinic.” He lamented.
CrossRiverWatch had reported the death of a final year student of Business Education Department, Williams Ikpi Ebri, who was reportedly to be shot death at Ijiman, Ugep by armed men and it is shocking that the institution (CRUTECH) have lost three students in the cold arms of death this semester.
