The Chairman, Association of Cross River Online Journalist (ACROJ), Mr. Hope Obeten has admonished journalist in the State to keep up the good work, regardless of challenges.

Mr. Obeten gave the charge while speaking as a guest on Episode 146 of “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” which airs Sundays 6-7pm on Hit 95.9 where he said that “Journalist in Cross River State are operating under stiff condition”.

The Chairman of Online Media practitioners in Cross River State explained that, “We have a situation where as a journalist you are expected to interview a person, but because of Security Operatives it is difficult to have access to them, as u make effort to get close, it’s either your camera gets broken, or you get threats at the end if the day”.

Mr. Obeten, Publisher of Calabar Blog urged Heads of Media Organisations in Nigeria to encourage their staff, by ensuring that their take home fee is good, and called on Government to crate an enabling environment for journalist in the State to carry out their lawful duties.

He said, “If journalist are under paid it will affect their professional conduct, and Government should try to give backing to journalist in the State so that at the end of the day you will do your story without threat”.
