The Chairman of the Governing Council, Cross River University of Technology CRUTECH, Mr. Emil Inyang has told CrossRiverWatch that he is still surprised where the media brought the word “reversed” from, when no one had been ratified as acting VC of the University.
He said the ongoing confusion has only been created by media reports, including CrossaRiverWatch about the vacant position which is yet to be occupied.
In a chat with our reporter, Mr. Inyang said, “After the expiration of the tenure of Professor Owan Enoh, there hasn’t been a vacuum. Council decided that the Chairman of the Committee of Deans, should attend to emergencies in the mean time, pending the election of a substantive VC.
Mr. Inyang added that, “It was only yesterday that Council wrote the governor after our meeting, and sent him Professor Ingwu’s name, requesting the governor to ratify Ingwu as VC in acting capacity till we get a new one. Until the governor ratifies, no one can be called VC. The governor is yet to do that and the social media reported that there is an acting VC.
It is only this morning that tue governor sent us a reply saying He cannot deal with only one name. He said we were boxing him into a corner by giving him only one name. He requested for more names to enable him be able to choose from. We have now sent seven names to him. He will choose from that list, who to be acting VC. That is the situation. There was no acting VC yet.”
