Cross River State female football team, Pelican Stars has celebrated their Thursday 8:1 victory over first lady’s Linda Ayade FC.
The celebration service took place at the Living Faith Church, Ibom Layout Branch Calabar were.
The match between the duo took place at the U.J Esuene stadium, to produce Pelican Stars as the Football Association Cup Champions in the female category.
Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service, Coach Obeten Sunday attributed the victory to the prayers showered on them on Sunday 28th of April, 2019, before the match was played.
She said, “We want to thank God for the grace He gave to us to play that match and to also win. Though the match was political, because we played against the team of the wife to the State Governor but God in His infinite mercy granted us the victory.
“Last week Sunday, we all were here on our knees while the Pastor, asked the members of the Church to stretch forth their hands and pray for us, and he also declared that we were going back with a resounding victory. Today I and my team members are grateful to God and to everyone here that we won the match with 8:1 to emerge the female FA Cup champions.” She said.
The match has qualified the female soccer players to represent Cross River in the National Championship Cup to be scheduled at a later date.
