The Cross River State, State Emergency Management Agency (CRS-SEMA), in collaboration with Peculiar Foundation is set to create jobs for three hundred refugees and host community members in the State.
The SEMA Acting Director General Mr. Princewill Ayim stated this in an exclusive interview with CrossRiverWatch in his Calabar office where he stressed that it will help in reintegrating the refugees and boosting their host communities.
He said, that the main goal of the partnership with the NGO is to help reduce the burden of economic challenges faced by the State Government.
According to him, “We are going to work with the host communities, we are going to invest in the State to provide economic activities so that the State will not be burdened by the economic challenges faced by the refugees.”
Furthermore Mr. Ayim intimated CrossRiverWatch, that the donors are not only providing employment to three hundred refugees and host community members but will also give welfare packages to women as business start up.
When asked about the recruitment process, Mr. Princewill said, “the exercise is set to commence next week, they (Peculiar Foundation) will be coming in, we will be conducting exams and it is not just for the refugees, our people will be involved also especially the host community.
“The exams will be conducted for those that are interested, as we continue we will be having more donors coming in to support us. By the time they come next week and we finalize the plan we will come public. The process will be open and the media will be carried along.”
Mr. Ayim concluded by thanking the Governor and calling on all to partner with the Agency.
