The premises of Agrim, a company that produces popular liquor ‘Tombo’ has been razed in an inferno.
The fire, witnesses told Hit FM correspondents began about 10:00AM on Sunday.
The entire plant located inside the Calabar Free Trade Zone Authority, including equipment and two vehicles; a bus and a saloon car suspected to be a Volkswagen Golf parked nearby were razed.
As at press time, firemen were still trying to put out the fire.
Efforts to speak with the company representatives failed as a Supervisor on duty whose name was simply given as Mr. Paul declined comment.
CrossRiverWatch could not verify the cause of the fire with eyewitnesses telling two stories.
The first version blamed it on a surge in electricity while the second version blamed it on overuse of the equipment which caused overheating.
