Details have emerged how men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad arrested the Chairman of the African Action Congress in Cross River State, Mr. Agba Jalingo after harassing staff in his wife’s office.
Mr. Jalingo, a critic of the Cross River State Government was arrested around 2:00PM on Thursday in his Lagos residence.
The FSARS officials had gone to the office of Mrs. Violet Agba on Thursday morning where she bakes and sells pastries and seized the phones of all staff present and ordered them to show to them Mr. Jalingo’s residence.
However, they resisted initially and their movement was restricted by the heavily armed policemen who. Eventually, one buckled under pressure and took them to his residence. She knocked and upon recognizing her voice, Jalingo is said to have opened the door and the FSARS officials grabbed him.
Upon inquiry, the FSARS men told him that they had been ordered to take him to their office from where he will proceed to Calabar by Friday morning.
He was taken to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) unit at the FSARS office in Ikeja and has been in detention since.
