The leadership of the Cross River State House of Assembly on Tuesday carried out an oversight on the Flour Mills of Nigeria, owners of Niger Mills, located at Murtala Mohammed Highway, Calabar.
The visit was aimed at creating a synergy between the legislature and the company which undoubtedly is the biggest food and agro-allied firm in the State.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams while acknowledging the company for adding value to the State, said Cross Riverians would not be happy if they are being shortchanged in terms of development and employment opportunity.
Contributing, the Leader of the House, Hon. Peter Odey and Deputy Leader, Hon. Frederick Osim called on the Company to train farmers in Cross River on how to grow certain grains and cereals that would serve as raw materials instead of sourcing from the northern part of Nigeria and abroad.
Chairman House Committee on Commerce, Industries, Privatisation and PPP, Hon. Chris Nja Mbu while thanking the company for what they have been doing in the State, also told them to get prepared for another round of painstaking oversight by his Committee.
