Election Tribunal: It’s Tactical Insult If A Governor Is Told He Is Distracted To Appoint Commissioners – Lawyer

By CrossRiverWatch Admin

Principal partner FBI Legal, First Baba Isa, has termed Governor Ben Ayade’s delayed appointment of Commissioners in Cross River State, as “tactical insult” which many insinuate is as a result of tribunal case.

The legal practitioner who featured as a guest on Hit 95.9 FM regular Sunday program “The Dialogue With Agba Jalingo” where he further describe it as “political jimmies”, added that it is said to excuse laziness.

“What my colleague said about people being distracted, those are political jimmies, they just say those things to escape their laziness. When I elect you as my Governor, my President, there are certain capability, certain strength I see you have; that is why I make you my Governor. You are not a Governor that can be distracted.

“Our Governor has not appointed Commissioners; President Buhari that we even talk of as go-slow has appointed Ministers. Nothing is distracting them, in fact, a well working Governor should even feel insulted if he is being told he is being distracted about governance because matters are in Court.

“They are just being lazy, just being careless; you are shaky in your responsibilities. Is there any law that says wait until you finish matters in tribunal before you appoint Commissioners? No sir, appoint Commissioners.

“We should stop making excuses for them; saying you are being distracted. As a Governor, you should know when someone is tactically insulting you, you should be angry with the person. The person is saying you lack what it takes to focus as a Governor.” He ended.

Following the ruling in favour of Governor Ben Ayade at the tribunal last week, there have been mixed reactions among Cross Riverians with the opposition party (APC) alleging that the Court was bought with money and would challenge the ruling.

On his part, public affairs analysts, Mr. Akiba Ekpenyong, opined that since there are litigations, it makes the running of the Government skeletal.

“The fact that there are still litigations here and there, still makes the running of the Government skeletal because up till now in Cross River, the have not been appointment as per executive council.

“There are insinuation that the Governor has being monitoring the tribunal also because if it was the other way round, election have to be conducted. For me it affects the polity because politicians who are at tribunal are still expecting at the end of the day, when they are done, that is when they will need a full focus. It affects the polity; it is a one way thing.” He inferred.
