A ship, Marguisa Boreas has birthed at the Calabar port which signifies commercial operations by the Marguisa Calabar Service.
Stakeholders which include the Calabar Chamber of Commerce (CALCCIMA), Nigeria Ports Authority, Nigeria Shippers Council, Nigeria Export Promotion Council, ANCLA and others received the crew Monday as they birth.
Mr. David Etim, CEO of Ports and Marine Services assured the Marguisa crew of maximum co-operation in ensuring their vessels will always come in and depart laden as well as ensuring that businesses in the direct catchment of Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Benue, Plateau, Adamawa, Taraba and as far as Borno and Jigawa States will patronize the Calabar service.
He foreshadowed that this will turn around the fortunes of the Calabar port as well as create more jobs in the Cross River State.
He commended ECM Terminals and Hull Blyth Ltd. for making this service a reality.
Stakeholders were conducted round the ship which is expected to lift its 1st cargo out of Calabar in a couple of days.
