A Mercedes Benz vehicle suspected to have had an accident along Murtala Mohammed High Way, opposite New Secretariat, Calabar is still left unattended to.
Our reporter learnt that it was involve in an accident last night, 21st November, 2019, with blood splashes at the scene.
“Both the driver and the passengers were injured, they were rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment,” said an eye witness.
Another who blamed the rough nature of the road said she had long expected this, with a strong conviction that such incident was bound to happen given the space of the road construction, adding that the road isn’t smooth.
Also, another driver who plies the route affirmed the incidence, stating “As at 8 O’Clock in the evening, I drove through this road and nothing like that had happened”, adding that the accident occurred at night.
Not fewer than four accidents have occurred in the spot in the space of two months and has left people injured according to Osang Pius Kejuo, who volunteered to fill potholes at the same spot early this month.
“I’m a driver and also a motorist, I have witnessed several accidents at that spot and most of the drivers are just coming into Calabar newly and they don’t know there is a bad spot in that place. So I have witnessed three different accidents that are very very serious and one of them was my neighbor, when I was still at Goldie few months ago. She was hospitalized for like one month because of that very spot.
“The driver didn’t know that there is bad spot there; the driver just came from Uyo. This one, I witnessed an accidents there again day before yesterday and I said No, before the Government will start serious road rehabilitation, let me fill that spot because that one is too dangerous.” Mr. Osang said.
Meanwhile at the time of filing this report, the vehicle was still by the road.
