The Cross River State Government has described as bizarre, jaundiced and uniformed, Times Magazine’s publication on Agba Jalingo’s treason trial.
A statement issued in Calabar, expressed disappointment at Times Magazine’s mischief and idiocy.
“It beats the imagination as to why an international news medium of Times Magazine’s standing feeds its readers with a bizarre, jaundiced and uniformed piece of information.
The position of the Cross River State Government was contained in a press release by Linus Obogo, Deputy Press Secretary to Governor Ayade and it reads, “Had the magazine applied itself to the principles of investigative journalism as would a reputable medium and then availed itself of Agba Jalingo’s charge sheet, it would not have made the idiotic claims.
“Given the cocktail of lies from this news outlet, we are no longer surprised at the bashing it has been receiving in the hands of President Donald Trump since his presidency in 2016 on account of its descent into lazy journalism.
“It has abandoned hardcore professionalism and veered into what could at best be described as fantasy and speculative journalism.”
“It is either that Times Magazine was out for deliberate mischief or on an irreversible decent into gutter journalism. Indeed, Times has lost its glory and gloss. So sad.”
