Ex-Calabar Rovers Footballer Replace Agbonlahor As Commissioner Of Police

Former Calabar Rovers footballer, Nkereuwem Akpan has replaced Austin Agbonlahor as Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command.

CP Akpan told the Cross River State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade, on Thursday at the Governor’s office during a courtesy visit, that he once played for Calabar Rovers football club.

He said his posting to the State was a home coming, “My posting to the State was a home coming, having once played for Calabar Rovers Football club.”

The new CP described the State as one of the State with very low crime rate, “Cross River State is one of the States with very low crime rate in the country.”

He commended Governor Ayade for the prevailing low crime rate Cross River enjoys, “My posted here is strictly on security duties, for the protection of lives and property.

“Thank God, Cross River is one of the less vulnerable States in terms of insecurity. Thank you, Your Excellency; the job has already been done because if you check the profile of States with criminality, Cross River is one of the least in the country.

“So, I appreciate you, Your Excellency. On behalf of my team, we pledged our readiness to work for you,” he stated.

Responding, Governor Ayade expressed implicit confidence in the ability of the State’s new Commissioner of Police to effectively police the State.
