Cross River Gets New CP, Uche Anozia

A new commissioner of police has resumed duties in Cross River state.

Mr. Uche Anozia is the new chief of police in the state.

Anozia took over on March 26, 2020 from Mr. Nkereuwem Akpan who spent just four months in the state from November till March. Akpan replaced Anozia in Bayelsa state.

There has been no release by police authorities concerning the redeployment with unconfirmed reports suggesting that top officials in Cross River influenced his posting to the state.

However, a statement by the command in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state and signed by
SP Asinim Butswat disclosed that Akpan reported for duty on March 26, 2020.

While, the command in Calabar is yet to issue a statement, Mr. Anozia has been seen in photographs with the Governor at different occasions with the latest being the presentation of 50 cars to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and the late night supervision of policemen stationed at the Odukpani-Itu bridge to effect a lockdown on Wednesday morning.
