Obudu Cargo Airport: Work Resumes, Government Threatens To Deal With Anyone Opposing The Project

By CrossRiverWatch Admin

As the Obudu cargo airport project crisis depens, the Cross River State Government has dished out threat to Okambi Community, in Obudu Local Government Area and any other opposed to the project.

Impeccable source monitoring on-the-ground progress of situation in the Community has revealed that: “Yesterday (Monday) evening between 5:30pm – 6pm, the Commissioner for Aviation, Hon. Jake Otu Enyia visited the Community (Okambi) to address the Community Chairman.

“The Community Chairman insisted to talk to the Commissioner where he will have witnesses and they went to the primary school and gathered the few Chiefs and persons around. The Commissioner was accompanied by Paul Obi, the Airport Project Manager.

“The Commissioner warned the Community Chairman and further threatened the Community that Government has decided to build the airport and there is nothing anyone will do about it.

“He informed the Community Chairman that work will resume tomorrow (Tuesday) in the Community and anyone who stands in the path of the work will be dealt with according to Government wish.

“As we speak, work is ongoing, our Community is a grave yard as everyone not in support of the project is in hiding. There is heavy Police presence in our Community.”

As at the time of filing this report, our newsroom is contacting the Commissioner for Aviation.

Prior to this move, the Aviation Commissioner had written to the Community on 6th April, 2020 about commencement of work.

See letter below.

The Community after receipt of the letter replied three days later through its Counsel.
