The position of the Cross River State House of Assembly, on the crippled judicial system in the State, has again been criticised.

Hon. Eteng Williams, the Assembly Speaker’s explanation of why there is no Chief Judge in the State, where he said the National Judicial Council, NJC is responsible has again, earned it the “rubber stamp” tag.

Mba Ukweni, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, in a statement issued Saturday in Calabar said, “NJC is not the problem, the State Governor (Sen. Ben Ayade) is the problem.”

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria went on to assert that, “the House of Assembly is a rubber stamp of the Governor.

“They are waiting for him to give them directives as to what they should do. If he tells them now to go and reconsider their report, and clear Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, they will do it speedily.”
