JUST IN: Students Storm Governor’s Office In Calabar, Demand End To ASUU Strike

By Jonathan Ugbal

Students resident in Calabar, the Cross River Capital have shut down the Governor’s office in the State demanding an end to the prolonged industrial action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

They began marching from the Freedom Park at Mary Slessor avenue through Murtala Muhammed highway to the office where they have insisted that it is only the Governor, Ben Ayade or his Deputy, Professor Ivara Esu can address them.

Efforts by security aides and media aides of the Governor to reach out to them were rebutted.

“He (Ayade) is our colleague, he is a student, why is he scared of addressing us?” Asked one Student who simply gave his name as Williams.
