Awade Friday Kamie better known as Last Prophet has tendered his resignation from Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Awade who vyed to represent Obanliku State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly in the last election and lost out, in a letter made available to our newsroom, he dropped the baton from the party and is planning his next move.

The ‘Otwetwe’ Hit 95.9 FM show presenter however did not disclose his next party but assured that it will be made known soon.

He thanked SDP stakeholders, party faithfuls, supporters as well as family and friends for standing by him in a quest to represent the people of Obanliku in the State House of Assembly adding that, though he did not scale through but “I have learnt a political lesson I can’t forget in a hurry.”

Letter in full: “I want to begin by thanking the members of my 2019 Obanliku State House of Assembly Campaign Organisation which was headed by Mr. Kingsley Akamusube. I thank all the Leaders of the Various groups who worked tirelessly for the success of our election.

“Special thanks to the Cross River State Governorship candidate of the SDP, Barr. Eyo Ekpo and his Wife, not forgetting his Deputy Engr. Wofai Ewa, Campaign DG Mr. Ambo Ekpenyong and my family of candidates across the length and breath of Cross River State. Not forgetting the efforts of the State Chairman and the State Executive Council of the Social Democratic Party, I appreciate your efforts and administrative support towards our 2019 election project.

“The 2019 elections which was characterised by many disappointments emanating from the political betrayal of some key factors within the SDP which led to the defeat of all of the party’s candidates in the election will go down as one of the worst in political history. Experience they say is the best teacher and I can say that I have learnt a political lesson I can’t forget in a hurry.

“I also want to thank our fathers, mothers, youths and political giants of Obaniku who saw hope in me and saw me fit to represent them in the Cross River State House of Assembly by voting and canvassing votes for me before and during the elections as we campaign across the 10 political Wards of Obanliku. We did not lose, we only learnt a better way to do it next time.

“Thanks to the party men and women who stood their grounds amidst the betrayal from the State Executive and the Chapters by working against our goal of delivering SDP in the 2019 general elections in Cross River State.

“As a growing politician and a young man who believe in the Obanliku project, I will stop at nothing less than my quest to deliver a new Obanliku to generation unborn.

“It is on this note, that l announce my resignation of membership from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and I will please ask all my supporters, friends and partners in the struggle to remain steadfast and wait for my next move in coming Months.

“This decision is one of the hardest l’ve had to make in a time like this, but I think it’s best for my political career and for the liberation of the good people of Obanliku.

“I wish all my political friends turn brothers and sisters in the SDP success in all future endeavour and l pray we all meet at the top. Thank you and God bless.”
