Our newsroom has confirmed the identity of the Assistant Commissioner (ACP) of Police axed to death this morning in Calabar, Nigeria’s first Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The slain ACP is Egbe Eko Edum, until his death he was Commanding Officer of No.73 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadron, Magumeri, Borno State.
The attack which took place in the early hours of today (Wednesday) December 2, 2020 at about 1am along Murtala Mohammed Highway by Pepsi by yet to be identified men.
Confirming the death of the Assistant Police Commissioner, DSP Irene Ugho, State Police Public Relations Officer further revealed “I just confirmed it now. He is an Assistant Commissioner of Police who serves in Borno State; he is not serving here.
“I think he was coming to see his family here in Cross River, he arrived Calabar as at about 1am when the incident happened. I learnt that they used axe on him, investigations will be launched”.
At the time of filing this report, his corpse has been deposited at the mortuary.
