Ahead of his father’s funeral slated for February 3rd and 4th, federal lawmaker, Jarigbe Agom has alleged that there are active plans by elements in Cross River State to assassinate him.

Mr. Agom currently represents the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency in the House of Representatives and hopes to be sworn in as Senator when the National Assembly resumes plenary based on the orders of a Court.

And, he told CrossRiverWatch that; “after trying and failing in every other means, they have resorted to planning to assassinate me. I have credible information from trusted sources that such plans are been hatched and I have been warned to be very careful.”

The lawmaker was silent on who is hatching the plan.

However, he has been at the forefront of what some political watchers have described as an upheaval in the ranks of the People’s Democratic Party in Cross River State having led the charge to foil Governor Ben Ayade’s plan of making his super aide, Stephen Odey, the Senator representing northern Cross River district.

The running battle, party sources say, was initially about sharing the control of the party structures for political survival but quickly degenerated to a game of wits and treachery to out-maneuver others as the plot over who gets elected to the 37 elective positions in the next general elections thickens.
