The Manufacturing Association of Nigeria, MAN, Cross River/Akwa Ibom branch has pledge to investigate M. Saleh and company limited over decision to sack five staff for leading protest and other surrounding issues.
The decision of the apex body of manufacturers which M. Saleh and company limited is part of, was revealed by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Clinton Offiong on air over the weekend in Calabar.
The MAN Cross River/Akwa Ibom branch Executive Secretary while representing his Chairman, Chief Giandomenico Massari on “The Dialogue With Agba Jlingo”, Cross River’s number one fundamental rights radio program, which is aired Sundays, 6:15pm – 7pm on Hit 95.9FM which is live on Mixlr and AudioMack.
According to him, “Man is going to investigate the matter, I am going to place a call to the liaison officer, I have her number to get to the root of the issues.”
It will be recalled that, as a result of the February 3, 2021 protest of poor working condition and salary increase by over 60 staff of the company, the leaders (Edet Akpakpan, Bassey Ekpe, Ubong Umana, Ogar Lawrence and Godwin Omina ) were pen down to be sacked.
Upon implementation of the sack order ahead of February 28, 2021, three names were replaced with others (Aniebiet Thompson, Idong Tom and Stanley – other name yet to be verified) who had nothing to do with organizing the protest.
As at press time, the company is yet to respond to request for comment.
