Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Joseph mbu last weekend bagged an award for outstanding leadership at the International Peace, Unity and NAtion Building Conference organised by the StandTall Africa Initiative and the Kabiru Gombe center for Religious Diversity, Ethics and Peace Studies.
Mr. Mbu, known for his publicised spat with Nigeria’s Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi while he served as Commissioner of Police in River’s State told CrossRiverWatch that he declined attending the event which held on July 29, 2021.
“I declined the offer but they insisted I had done well and brought it to the house,” the retired Police Chief said.
He is said to be one of the most decorated Police Officer that has served the country.
Some of the awards he has won include; Best Area Commander, Delta State; Best Commissioner of Police, Oyo State; Best Crime Fighting Police Chief in Africa, Johannesburg; Most Innovative Police Command in Nigeria, River’s State; Best Police Officer for Ethical Policing and Professionalism (Ghana); Golden Star Award and Best Zonal Commander in Nigeria, Houston, Texas, USA; Nigeria Police Medal of Courage (NPMC) Integrity Award from Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and induction into the Hall of Fame by the crime reporters association of Nigeria (CRAN) for ensuring the most credible and peaceful election ever witnessed in Lagos and Ogun State.
