BREAKING: Lawyer’s Engaged By Cross River State Government Protest 26 Months Owed Salaries

By Jonathan Ugbal

Legal practitioners engaged by the Cross River State ministry of justice are currently protesting at the Governor’s office in Calabar over non payment of salaries.

The protest is one in a series of many that plagued the State after the delisting of nearly 3,000 workers from the payroll by the current administration.

The Governor, Benedict Ayade had directed a screening exercise but 33 legal practitioners engaged between 2015 and 2016 were not captured.

This means those that are supposed to prosecute cases for the State have not been paid for 26 months.

And, following several pleas, a few decided to stage a protest at Governor’s office on Monday to press him their demands.
