Usman Sule Gomna on Wednesday, resumed officially as the 29th Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of the Zone 6 command.
The Zone 6 command of the Nigerian Police Force covers the Akwa Ibom and Cross River State Police commands.
Mr. Usman was among the 24 AIGs including Cross River born AIG Okon Etim Ene (Zone 17, Akure) redeployed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba on July 27, 2021 in line with the force’s “new manpower development policy,” a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba read.
AIG Usman, a native of Chanchanga Local Government Area of Niger State takes over from AIG Zaki Ahmed who has been redeployed to the Police’s Special Protective Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The Paradise reports that Usman was appointed into the Police Force in 1988 as one of the Cadet Assistant Superintendent of the former Police Academy Annex, Kaduna. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in political science from Bayero University, Kano.
The senior police officer who has spent over three decades in the force has served as heads of different formations including Area Commander Kafanchan, Kaduna State; Area Commander Kontagora, Niger State; Assistant Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal and Investigation Department, Taraba State; Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration, Taraba State and Commissioner of Police in charge of Jigawa State command.
After inspecting the guard of honor, the new AIG enjoined the citizens to remain law abiding and cooperate with the police in the area so they can provide adequate security for every citizen as they go about their lawful business.
