A two term member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Lady Elizabeth Edem Ironbar is dead.
Mrs. Ironbar died in the late hours of Tuesday after a protracted illness family sources say.
Ironbar who has represented Akpabuyo constituency since June 2015 is known for her Cross River State Disability Commission bill and is the second member of the ninth Assembly to die.
The first was Mr. Godwin Akwaji (Obudu, PDP) who passed away in June 2020.
This means the eighth and ninth Assembly which she was a member of have lost two members during the lifespan of the Assemblies.
In the eight Assembly, Stephen Ukpukpen (Obudu PDP), and Simon Nkoro Egbung (Ikom 2, PDP) died within three months of each other in 2018.
A tough politician, Ironbar is said to have negotiated her way for her two terms in office despite not being the preferred candidate of party chieftains who wanted a male loyalist.
This came to play when she refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress alongside other members who followed Governor Ben Ayade.
