Interns of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) have protested over 11 months unpaid salary. The management since August 2, 2021 suspended the interns for asking for their wages.
The peaceful protest held today, Monday, in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. Their takeoff point was IBB Way by Satellite Town junction (CUDA) through Etta Agbor to Mary Slessor roundabout where they proceeded to the Governor’s office and stopped at Federal Secretariat.
Mr. Ojong, Director of Investigations, Public Complains Commission, after sympathizing with them promised to swing into action.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof. Ikpeme E. Ikpeme has been contacted for comment. The internship program is 12 months, they have just a month left to wrap up.
