2 Die In Calabar Auto Crash At Site Fixed By Ayade’s Administration Twice In 4 Years

Initial reports suggest that at least two people died in a car crash on Tuesday night along Yellow Duke street in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Images obtained by CrossRiverWatch show that the car flipped and somersaulted into a hole created by flash floods just next to the bridge head of one of the culvert along the route that sits atop the Channel one drainage, which spans from Watt market to the Qua river.

It is the second time in two weeks that such is occurring, eyewitnesses say. The first incident occurred on October 20th.

And, that spot has been fixed twice by the current administration after several outcries.

The hole first appeared in 2016 and was fixed in 2017. It appeared again in 2018 and by May 2018, residents edited the signage “Ayade Is Working” to read; “It’s A Lie, Ayade Is Not Working.” It was fixed late in 2018.

‘Ayade is working’ changed to ‘It’s a lie Ayade Is Not Working’ by residents

The hole reappeared in early 2021 and has been neglected.

As at press time, officials of the Cross River State command of the Federal Road Safety Commission have since arrived the scene.
