The organized labor in Cross River State has provided a breakdown of gratuities owed local government and state retirees since 1999.
In its strike bulletins 14a and 14b, labor said that the current administration owes the bulk of gratuities as it has not paid any and wondered which administration will suffer the liability.
The state has been shut down for over three weeks despite multiple threats from Government to labor.
Mr. Ayade had said that the State is providing between NGN30 and NGN50 million monthly to offset gratuities in the 2022 budget.
But, Labor’s bulletins show this may be too meager as it may not offset the gratuity of those who have retired in the first half of 2021 alone.
According to the document, the past administration paid up until 2012 for state retirees while there have been unresolved issues from 1999 for local government retirees.
And out of the combined NGN48 billion owed retirees, the debt incurred by the Ayade’s administration is 70 percent of the NGN30.7billion for local government and 85 percent NGN17.64billion for state retirees.
