Hon. Eta Mbora, member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Constituency in the House of Representatives has received commendations and goodwill from his constituents.
The homage was after he recently attracted another set of projects to his people. The projects include electricity transformers, solar powered boreholes and several blocks of classrooms.
The federal lawmaker disclosed on phone that the projects were borne out of a meticulous needs assessment meant to meet the needs and yearnings of his people.
According to him, “it’s incumbent on me to continually thrive to interfere and build synergy especially at the federal level with relevant stakeholders in order to attract vital projects needed by my people.
“This current intervention is one in a series to address critical infrastructure deficits in order to boost commerce and industry, human capital development with a view of enhancing their living standard.”
The Chairman, Cross River State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Victor Udu applauded Ntufam Eta Mbora for the solar powered borehole being installed at the NUJ Secretariat.
Comrade Udu opined that the gesture would go a long way in ameliorating the suffering of residents of the area owing to irregular water supply by the State Water Board.
A former leader of Odukpani Legislative Council, Hon. Nyong Edet expressed delight and appreciation over the development.
He stated that “our people are excited over the increasing numbers of projects attracted to Odukpani by our House of Representatives member.
“The street lights at Creek Town has awaken nightlife, the solar powered borehole at Akpap Circus is going to address the challenge of portable drinking water and curtail possible outbreak of water borne disease while the 3 classrooms blocks each at Dan Archibong Memorial secondary school Usung Esuk and Government Primary School Odukpani Qua Town are set to tackle accommodation shortfall in our schools.”
A community leader in Otop Otop, Nyakassang in Calabar Municipality, Mr. Andrew Edoh said the 500 KVA transformer facilitated by Eta Mbora and undergoing installation within his community is timely.
“We have been suffering from perennial blackouts for years now due to the continuous tripping off of the closest overloaded transformer that was feeding my area. This is a big relief to us.”
Also speaking, a legal practitioner and PDP chieftain Barrister Ene Ankot revealed that the achievements of Ntufam Eta Mbora in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly is a pride to the party.
He noted that the street lights and transformers around Calabar Metropolis will reawaken nightlife, enhance power supply and checkmate the activities of criminal elements who operate mostly in darkness.
Projects being undertaken in the current phase include 3 classroom blocks at Dan Archibong Memorial Secondary School Usung Esuk, Government Primary School Odukpani Qua Town, Primary School Akai Efa and 6 classroom blocks at PCN Primary School IBB in Calabar Municipality.
Others are 500KVA transformers sited at Otop Otop Nyakassang, Ikot Uduak by MCC, Presbyterian Church, Graceland, Satellite Town and Saint Augustine Primary School Old Odukpani Road in Calabar.
The solar powered boreholes are located at NUJ Press Center, State Housing Estate Calabar, Etta Agbor behind Fidelity Bank, Akim Market, Akpap Circus and Community Technical College Ikot Effagha Mkpa.
