Two youth groups have announced that they purchased the nomination form for Joel Henshaw, an aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the February 26, 2022 legislative by-elections.
The Cross River Youth Force (CRYF) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), took to Facebook to announce the action.
“YouthO’Clock is on the move. Akpabuyo youth will speak in the primaries of (the) PDP,” the groups wrote, while announcing that this was a litmus test to tell Nigerians that, “Cross River youths are ready.”

Mr. Henshaw is hoping to scale the screening process of the PDP today in Calabar to participate in the primary elections that will determine the party’s candidate for the polls which will determine the legislator representing Akpabuyo constituency in the State House of Assembly.
The seat of Akpabuyo state constituency in the State House of Assembly was declared vacant following the demise of Mrs. Elizabeth Edem Ironbar in October, 2021.
Mrs. Ironbar died in the late hours of Tuesday 26 October, 2021 after a protracted illness family sources said.
She represented Akpabuyo constituency since June 2015 and is known for her Cross River State Disability Commission bill and is the second member of the ninth Assembly to kick the bucket while in office after Hon. Godwin Akwaji (PDP, Obudu) in 2020.
