Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria and Cross River State in particular, stakeholders from the Southern Senatorial District have appealed to other districts (North and Central) to support the ‘Back-To-South’ agenda.
Yesterday at a press briefing held in the Diamond hall of the Transcorp Hotels in Calabar, the State capital and first Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, the district leaders were led by Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
In his opening remark, Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong beckoned on other districts to support the course of the South as they have done before.
He was delighted with the show of support to the course and maintained that supporting power returning to the South is the best way to go.
According to the release read by Senator Ita Giwa, “Southern Senatorial District are aware that no Senatorial District can on its own make a Governor, that is why we are committed to ensuring that we work harmoniously with the Central and Northern Senatorial District in archiving our desire for power to return come 2023.
“We further wish to state that all the three Senatorial Districts know that our demand for power to return to the southern senatorial district is equitable, justiciable, fair and is the proper thing to happen at this time. We would like to use this opportunity to call on all well meaning Cross Riverians to rise in support of power rotation and return of power to the southern Senatorial District come May 29t, 2023.”
The release also appreciated the Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade, drummed support for him and said he will finish strong.
